RPO Codes for Rear End Gearing

I have looked around the site but can't seem to find the RPO codes to determine gearing in my truck. I have a 94 GMC K1500 ECSB 6 lug with the 5.7 did those come with more than one gear ratio? It has a limited slip rear end but not sure if it's a 3.73, seems those are the most common in these...

Noise from the rear of my GMT-400 ECSB 4X4

Update... Pulled the cover off and found pieces of teeth missing from the ring gear and a loose pinion/yoke. So now the question is which is the best for a driveway mechanic. I see the parts for rebuilding the rear end are not super expensive but setting it up seems to take specialized tools to...

Noise from the rear of my GMT-400 ECSB 4X4

I have been hearing a noise from the rear of my truck for about a month. Sometimes it was not there but within the last week it was louder and i could feel a knocking in my left foot when i had it flat on the floorboard. I jacked it up off the wheels and wiggled the driveshaft and the rear...

My 1994 GMC ECSB Rebuild Slow and Steady

Yea I am not replacing the whole rocker just the exterior metal about 18 inches worth. I added the panel in the indented area because it was easier to hide my substandard bodywork skills. I did not have to use much filler actually. And yes I ordered new brake and fuel lines already and will be...

My 1994 GMC ECSB Rebuild Slow and Steady

Well the cab corners are installed and primered... I will probably start stripping down the molding and working on the doors. I may have to replace the drivers side door, it has some rust in the bottom and is not in the greatest shape. Also plan on working on rockers.

My 1994 GMC ECSB Rebuild Slow and Steady

Yea I know... I am hoping I may be able to get to a 305 possibly if I have the right Offset . I like the added height but did not want to spend the money on a suspension lift.

My 1994 GMC ECSB Rebuild Slow and Steady

Well I cut out the old cab corners and found a little more rust on the sub frame so I will have to wire wheel all that treat the rust and paint it Ok I sanded down quite a bit and cut out the really bad stuff... so tomorrow I plan on shooting rust converter and hopefully painting it rustoleum...

My 1994 GMC ECSB Rebuild Slow and Steady

Well ... making more progress put the paint on today on the rear of the frame. Now to decide the next step. I am thinking I should remove the front fenders and hood next so I can get to the front of the frame to prep and paint it and the inner fenders. I am thinking that will make it easier to...

My 1994 GMC ECSB Rebuild Slow and Steady

Well some more progress on the frame. Yesterday I finished up the frame with 2 bottles of vinegar, putty knife, and a 2800 PSI power washer. Vinegar is an amazing acid I had no idea it would work so well. I am using Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer, I will used a Satin finish black oil base after...

My 1994 GMC ECSB Rebuild Slow and Steady

Well I have the old shocks and spare tire ***** removed. It occurred to me that shouldn't all fasteners be stainless steel. The bolts holding on the shocks at the top were so corroded and rusted it took several squirts of PB blaster to free them up. I started using the wire wheel attachment on...
