Replacing the entire rear end will be the easiest fix. No special tools needed.are there any specialty tools I would need to do this? ie seal/bearing puller?
maybe I should've asked first - I'm getting a roaring/road noise from the rear end. is it the axle bearings, or the diff? I'm thinking as long as it's been noisy, if it was the diff, it'd be broke/locked up by now. (bad on me, I was told to replace the seal's a while back and didn't, because I saw no sign of a leak.) rear end grease has been changed.
if I don't have to replace the entire rear end, I could, maybe, do this myself.
Any opinions on best gear ratio for a 97 k1500 4l60e. 3inch body lift and 285/75/16. Maybe even a 305/70 or 315/75? Oh and another thing i weigh 270 and im pretty sure 260 of it is my right foot. Would like a good blend of performance and mpg. Im not looking for 30mpg my truck/driving style garrauntees i wont get 30 out of a prius. Thanks for the help.
