Little update on the poor gal, couple weeks ago i took the sub and amp out and put them in my '96, while doing so i found the floor is starting to rot, not badly (just surface rust atm), but it needs to be dealt with. im thinking in the spring its getting a full interior guy, im talking dash and all, it needs a new wiring harness as well, half of it is made (not by me!), thinking about plasti-dipping the hole truck thinking either just black, or OD green.

She is currently sitting with the grill out, interior half ripped apart, sorta sad, have thought about just flogging her for what i have into the engine, just cant bring myself to do it, if anyone is interested, let me know, would be willing to sell to good home.

Looks like I'm keeping it.

Found a 1976 454 with a TH400 for $200!! Dad needs the TH400 and I want the 454, so we are going halfers.

Plans are:
396 crank (have a fresh one, makes the 454 a 427)
Mild cam
Roller rockers
Fresh gaskets and paint

We do have a set of 366 truck heads, which I heard bump the compression up big time, but they flow like through a screen door.

Awesome Fast, glad that you are going to keep it!
That will be a NICE setup in that RCSB!

Thanks man!

The overall plan is for a more drivable and mild setup that still have the power I currently have!

The current 355 will get a vortec friendly cam and go into my red truck. The current one has a cold start knock (typical for vortec 880 blocks) my 355 is roller ready and is a TBI 638 4-bolt block.

Think of getting some 427SS decals made in the 454SS style haha!

Glad you've decided to keep it, Josh!
Like the idea of a BBC in there! Don't know about those 366 heads though. Big compression = burning Hi-Test. And big compression with low flow? That may cause ya some probs.
Square ports are probably overkill since you'd need a pretty hefty cam to make 'em work properly, & that'd be getting you away from the goals you have for it.
I would think that a set of round ports, nicely matched to the intake, with a bit of work to help them flow would be the ticket.
A nice hydraulic cam similar to the 427/390hp GM stick would be a blast in a RCSB.
A Bud of mine ran a dual profile cam in his 454. Idled as smooth as a Cadillac, but made over 500hp! Can't remember the manufacturer, though.
