Interesting that some of you already have a composite fan.
The NAPA fan I purchased is supposedly an aftermarket upgrade replacement for the S-10 4.3L. It might be the same case for the GMT400. I didn't research that so I really don't know.
My truck has the trailer package w/HD cooling (34" radiator) and trans cooler. It still had the 5 blade steel fan despite the HD cooling.
I'll have to look to see if there is a fan upgrade specifically for the GMT400.

Edit: Evidently some GMT400's came with this fan: ACDelco #15-80739

They are more prevalent on GMT800's.

That's what I have, an 11 blade composite. I also have a 9 blade composite fan from an 09 6.0L 2500HD that I picked up when I got the heads and intake off its engine. It is approx. 19" in diameter and has a 4 bolt mounting flange with the bolts being about 3.25" across, center to center. Does that sound about right for fitting our trucks/fan shroud?

Yes 3.25 is what I measured also. So it should fit.

Didn't see it mentioned, but how much does this actually help with cooling the engine?

GMT400's already have a stout cooling system (at least mine does).
I also run a 180 degree thermostat and it rarely goes beyond that.
I saw no difference in engine temps. I did the mod mainly for my A/C efficiency and I'm sure it also brought down my trans temp while not moving. I can't tell you how much it brought the trans temp down because I didn't take note. I did the B&M trans fluid cooler upgrade so it never has gone above 180 degrees when towing or otherwise. I'm happy with that so I didn't bother to see how much the fan cooled the trans fluid.

Heres the 11 blade s10 fan on my 94. It is not easy to get on because of very little room to get the nuts on.

This is how the fan clutch mounts on a tbi motor.

Not much clearance when installing it.

I actually had to take the belt off to let the pulley wobble around for clearance to get my hands in there but here it is on there

Awesome. I'll have to do this mod to the '94 we have.
I did eyeball the fan on the '94 and it looks to be the same bolt pattern.
Now I know it can be done.
