$800 total, seems to be a decent price. As long as it runs okay. I've seen people pull bad engines, clean them up, then lie about the mileage and say they pulled it because they wrecked the rear end of the vehicle. Sneaky little ********. I don't buy an engine unless I can personally hear and see it run.

WAY too much. Check out ls1tech. You can get full motors (aluminum 5.3's) for that price. LS stuff is getting CHEAP.

You can get a set of ls1 heads (241's) for like $200 with springs. Then edelbrock intake and a carb, with msd box (~$750), and a cam and you are good to go. 400RWHP & 20MPG. You'll need something serious to wipe the grin off your face though :)

Not exactly. But motor mounts and swap headers are readily available. The only thing you need to worry about is the tranny and if I were doing an LS swap, there's no way I'd use anything but a T-56.

Or 6060 or stout 4L80. There isn't a single manual truck transmission I would put behind it.

If you're stayin auto I'd say a 4l80 or maybe a TH-400 with a gearvendor behind it. If you get a 5.3, drop a cam, LS heads, and intake on it and you'll be set. If you get it on the cheap you can probably do the whole motor with controller and all for around...

$750 motor
$250 heads
$200 intake
$100 ECM
$300 Cam
