Aye, I have what we call a draw bar but no 'ball'. Build sheet says I have 'Z82 Trailering Package (Special)(Reese type hitch)'. I need a Reese ball then!
Is Reese an American thing do you think or more international?
It's an American brand, but as long as you know what size the hole in the draw bar, what I would call a ball mount, is, l think you should be able to find a trailer ball. Most trailers here use a 2", small boat trailers use a 1 7/8", and large travel trailers (caravans to y'all) use a 2 5/16". Over here a lot of trucks use a ball mount that has all 3 sizes and a tow hook on them. My cousin keeps one of those in the hitch receiver on his 2015 Silverado pickup, he figures if anybody hits his truck, it'll do more damage to them than to his truck. My dad made a ball mount for one of our old trucks out of 2" heavy duty square tube steel, making a hole for locating the ball bolt and another for the socket to tighten the nut.

Not sure what standard UK size ball is but I can find out. When lockdown is over I'll maybe have a look in the local breakers and see if there's anything there of use. Probably the bar and no ball. Like all those bike engines advertised as 'complete'. Complete - eh? Where are the carbs then?
No rush, It'll be while before I contemplate towing.

Think I've spotted the blue and orange wires under the brake booster. I'm leaving the arm scarring search for the wires at the rear until later (coward!).

If my truck has a ball hitch - where will it be hiding? It's not in the cubby where the jack is. Anywhere else it could be? (Or maybe it's never had one. There's no sign of the electrics ever having been done).
It should have a hitch that looks like this picture I attached. Harness should be taped 2 main harness right before rear tail light connector on left side I have two different year wiring harness pictures

Mine has the draw bar but not the ball hitch - whether it has ever had a ball hitch is unknown. Given that the electrics must still be tucked up inside, possibly not.
Is the hole in the bumper to the right of my reg plate where the cable should emerge?

It also has a dual exhaust system - completely independent bank to bank - no balance pipe. Was this a factory option? Looking at the rearmost sections, it looks like its been bodged a bit with bits from another system. Further upstream looks respectable. Twin cats with an O2 sensor in each IIRC.

Hole to the right of the plate is for the spare tire drop/removal unless you have 25 gallon fuel tank with spare mounted inside. Factory exhaust should exit right rear not the back. I have seen models with single 3in or dual 2.5 exiting right rear behind wheel.

That's definitely aftermarket. Stock Vortecs had a dual in (with one cat on each pipe) - single out muffler with the pipe exiting on the right rear. I do like that setup on your Burb, recently I've been liking pipes straight out the back.

I can see the need for the hole now you mention it.

Mine has the spare indoors and what I thought was a 42USG tank. Just checked my build sheet and no mention of it but on another printed sheet it says 42USG. But that sheet looks like a spec sheet printed from the internet (external dimensions etc).

I kinda like them!
Each pipe is the same length. The one from the driver side crosses over to passenger side and runs parallel with the other one and just before the rear axle the passenger side pipe crosses over to the other side equalising their lengths - neat!

Yes that looks like the factory style frame mounted hitch. You'll need the ball mount/ draw bar and a pin to hold the bar in; I prefer a locking version because it makes it more difficult for someone to steal your trailer by removing the pin and pulling the draw bar out. These are pretty much a standard size. I believe the pin hole is 5/8" or 3/4 " .
The original owner may not have ever had a draw bar if they didn't need to tow a trailer. Probably just needed a Burb to move dignitaries around comfortably LOL

5/8" is the standard size. I used to make my own draw bars and receivers. The receiver tube is specially made to accept the 2" square tube draw bar but I was always able to get some at the local steel yard. I don't know about across the pond though.
