    Alternators

    Here is what I have on my truck. The gold pulley is the OE, and the black pulley is the aftermarket, overdrive pulley. You can see the difference. The black pulley is smaller, and will turn the alternator faster.

    Gas Mileage

    Gas millage????? WTH is that. 97 Silverado, about 10 MPG, 79 Corvette about 8 MPG. Both have 373 gears. Truck has a 4L60E, Vette has the OE 4 speed manual. This is in town of course, and well I do kind of have a lead foot. Both have a 350. L-31 in the truck, and L82, 4 bolt main in the Vette.

    Looks like an after market security system. Unplug it, and if the truck still starts up fine, you should be OK, but if it won't start, then you will need to leave it in place, until you can get more info, on how to remove it.

    I have an Eaton true track in my 97, with 373s. Thing is, I'm running 275/60/15 tires. The 373s on that OE, or close to the same high as OE tires are grate. You could always sale you 373s. As for the posi, you should be able to just swap the gear set. If you don't know how to do the rear end...
