new pcv

1997 sierra 5.7...... i just replaced the pcv valve and noticed that there is a letter stamped on the bottom. the old one has an E and the new one has a F. does this mean anything?

That is the spring rating for that particular valve.

so is it an issue that they are not the same?

You need to replace the PCV valve with one of the same rating. The flow rate of a PCV valve is calibrated for a specific engine application. Putting a valve with higher or lower rating can effect the engine performance because of vacuum pressure issues.

So can anyone tell me which one is the right one? 1997 sierra k1500 5.7. I took the E out and put in the F. Didn't notice any difference on the way to work today.
