5.7 vortec engine sound. is this normal?
Sounds like this and worse when first starting cold. then gets quiet like this after 30 seconds. ive heard it may be piston slap but I dont know much about how an engine should sound. any thoughts? thanks in advance. 97 k1500 burb 225,000- hi54lofi

Need help identifying noise. Rod knock ?
I have this 98 C1500 that knocks, I can hear it more at the botom near the flexplate and the oilpan. It more audible when I start the truck but once it's warmed up you can bearly hear it. Rod knock maybe ? Is it worth fixing this or just find a new engine ? It's got 190k miles.- RamonRdzS

5.7 Vortec cold tap/knock HELP!
So about a year ago, my head gasket blew on my 99 Classic. Had the heads professionally redone and had the lifters, rockers etc out. Fixed it up nice. Engine knock (newbie)
I have a new (to me) 1998 gmc K1500 stepside with a 5.0l 305 Vortec. And I have an engine knock I have a small inclination about what it might be. Main or rod bearing. Push rod. 350 TBI: Scanner Shows Knocking on Acceleration
1990 5.7 TBI. So I just picked up an MT2500 scanner and have been playing around with it. I notice that the knock sensor is going off whenever I accelerate (even with mild throttle). Is this normal? Engine runs smooth, no CEL, no modifications from OEM. I'm guessing this is the way its supposed...- studigggs
