    Das Weiner Schnitzel

Yeah I've heard the same, I think they call it 'snaps and pops' or something close. I'm waiting for the vid of the guy whose exhaust blows apart cuz of too much snap n pop action. As for the Jetta, 1.8T is better than 2.0T that came after, and it looks pretty decent too. We took in a 2004...

    C3500 Chassis cab rollback project

Hey all Been a while since I posted up here. Last time I had bought a 93 C3500 SRW truck that ended up being a great project although I ended up selling after I fixed all the little problems it seemed to have. Someone saw it and how clean it was inside and the under 100k miles and they had to...

Differences between K1500 with K3500 frame.

The odo says 211k and I didn't take note of the number of hours but I'll look at it tomorrow. I could go that route but it's a lot of work to handle something that big by one person...and usually it's just me. I'm not opposed to going that route, it just means there's a lot more unknowns and...

Differences between K1500 with K3500 frame.

Hey all My 94 K1500 6.5TD frame is rotting out and I have an opportunity to get a K3500 frame that's in decent shape. I understand there are some differences between the two in the front but I can't find a list of those beyond 1) upper control arms / bj's are different, mounting points for the...

    Drive shaft ujoint questions

Hey all, been a while... I don't see a specific section where this belongs...the sections here are kind of confusing IMO, there seems to be no place for people with stock trucks. Anyway, I'm having trouble locating correct part number info for new ujoints for the C3500 6.5TD truck so I'll drop...

    K2500 Suburban Rear Axle Replacement

Every two piece I've seen can only be joined one way and one way only. The union is keyed to only insert one way. The shop I've used can do multi piece drive shafts but they said they get better results by doing each section individually and then running the two together for a check. They're a...

    K2500 Suburban Rear Axle Replacement

Are you sure about that? The shop I use specifically said they balance the two independently when I took in Dakota driveshaft. Maybe this is just an anomaly where I live but I was under the impression that this was industry standard practice. Steve

Flexible cove base you say....hmmm, never thought about that but if I saw it out there I'd recognize it. Steve

    Truck Aerodynamics

That was my idea too, I have two in the basement now, one with and one without hooks, but I'm more inclined to go back and get another no hook spoiler at the JY and combine the two as mentioned. I honestly don't think it would look too bad, I've seen far worse on other vehicles, like plastic...

    Truck Aerodynamics

I'd have to agree with the others on this, the findings are inconsistent across models. My 94 K1500 has the hooks and lower valance (spoiler), the 93 C3500 has no hooks but I always assumed it had a spoiler originally even though it's gone now. These plastic spoilers just tend to get torn off...

    Truck Aerodynamics

I did a quick check and this is what trucknews says about it: "The answer, thanks to the highly respected testing of FPInnovations' Performance Innovation Transport (PIT), is that most do save fuel, though the savings vary. ... side skirts reduced fuel consumption by an average of 6.69%...

    Truck Aerodynamics

Isn't that air dam difference a 4x2 vs a 4x4 situation? I have never noticed a 4x4 without hooks, but TBH never really looked all that intently at it. I think with camper shells (toppers) that conform to the pickup cab you're better off, but for toppers that protrude out past (sides and top)...

    K2500 Suburban Rear Axle Replacement

Well that's unfortunate, however, if it fixed the wobbly right rear wheel problem then it did some good even if the vibration didn't end up being resolved or related. So have you had your tires balanced recently to make sure it's not related to tires? Before proceeding you need to determine if...

How to MarkVIII your OBS on a budget..!

Also, would like to hear from anyone whose done the Tahoe fan instead of the Mk VIII fan and whether that's been a good choice or not. It's a lot easier for me to find a Tahoe fan assembly rather than try and find a Mk VIII fan. Thanks Steve

How to MarkVIII your OBS on a budget..!

I read through 9 pages looking for someone with a 6.5 diesel who had installed one, if it was there I missed it. Anyone know someone with a turbo diesel that's done it? I kinda don't get along with the clutch fan so much and I'd like to know if anyone with a diesel successfully converted...and...

Be careful about returns with CarID

This is a big reason I would rather buy a used xxxxx and have it rebuilt locally if I can, core charges render a economy of the product moot if you can't get it returned and all in all it's just a big hassle. Unfortunately I've noticed that I'm seeing more and more core charges, or wanting...

    K2500 Suburban Rear Axle Replacement

TBH I suspected something wasn't original when you said, "because 1/2 ton suburbans have rear sway bars, my 2500 does not" because AFAIK all Suburbans got the rear sway bar. That's one reason the trucks don't show up as a direct donor for Suburban rear axle, because the trucks lack the rear sway...

    K2500 Suburban Rear Axle Replacement

Glad you were able to find the right parts, if all you're taking are the axle shaft and hub you don't need to worry about anything else. The ratio makes no difference with just these parts. That's as long as you're taking the axle from the correct side. Let us know when you're back on the...

    K2500 Suburban Rear Axle Replacement

I think you'll find you have the slide on drums like I do, the backside mounted drums are earlier although I don't know for certain how much earlier but if I had to guess I'd say square body or very very early GMT400. I haven't seen enough examples to be able to say for certainty on this, but if...

    K2500 Suburban Rear Axle Replacement

I guess I didn't clarify which was which on the Jx7 series brakes, but the point was that regardless of the axle type (SF / FF) you could option to have the bigger brakes (or not) and it wouldn't matter to the axle assembly you have. IOW you can option up the brakes without having to also buy...

    K2500 Suburban Rear Axle Replacement

Hey all JB7 and JD7 are the brake codes for 14 bolt axle, either SF or FF, one is hydro the other not, but they have the 13x2.5" brakes. The JB8 brakes which are hydro 10,000 have 13x3.5" shoes and 4" drums. Not all SRW 3500 were 9200, mine is labeled 9000 gvwr for some reason. If the axle...

    K2500 Suburban Rear Axle Replacement

IDK who's telling you what will interchange but they're wrong. You should be able to acquire a hub / axle / anything off the Express or Savana vans (3500) up to and including 2002. After that they all went disc. And as far as that goes you should be able to get it off any 3500 with 10.5" rear...

    Frame

If I was going to replace a frame and I had a K1500 (and I can answer yes to both these) I'd definitely get a K2500 frame since they're slightly thicker. Especially if I was going to have it shipped some distance...

Looking for a set of 8-lug center caps

Just guessing but I'd say this is what he's looking for. He didn't mention chrome or black so I just found a pic of what I figured was on the 89. IIRC this was a 2 year only item, 88/89, but I could be wrong. I snagged the photo of ebay but I haven't seen any of these in a while. The later ones...

PARKING BRAKE CABLE - '94 C2500 - WHICH? Non-removable Molded Pad Cover? Removable Rubber Pad Cover?

There's lots of confusion in the brake cables, and on RA there's not enough info to be able to make a reasonable decision. Some cables appear to be only 1/8 or 1/4" different in length, which based on the amount of slack back there seems weird that 1/8" or 1/4" would make any difference. I...
