    Not sure! I asked myself the same question! We live in Maine right near the ocean... Lot's of fog recently and truck has been sitting halfway in our barn door with hood open... Salt air must have got to them. It certainly eats everything else here!

    Will do. Got her running with new plugs... Pic attached of totally fouled plugs with only 100 miles of testing and then cranking after IM gasket job. Wow!! Thanks!!

    They were new right before the intake manifold gasket job... literally 100 miles in them... had double checked gap a week ago and reported condition in my post... checking them all for spark quality and will clean them when I finish this post!

    See my response about checking rotor movement? It seems like it is connected and has "minimal" play... I have no idea what the accepted "slop" in the system is but there is not much in this one.

    with the plugs all looking a little different, I'm sure the age of the motor would indicate that there are some inconsistencies with valve seats etc. I have not done a compression test as someone walked off with our compression tester. Again, except for the conditions of intake manifold...

    Thanks! No. Only did intake manifold gaskets at this time. Did not go deeper into motor as no other symptoms were present. Timing light is dead on the mark and does not jump around at all... Ran great right up until the problems described here, before the gasket job. Thoughts??
