    Head Gasket Versus Intake Gasket

No leaks on the ground after warmed. It is pouring white smoke out the exhaust right after starting and after warmed up. Idles terrible too.

    Head Gasket Versus Intake Gasket

I have a 1997 Chevrolet K1500 with the 350 V8. It has been drinking / guzzling coolant lately. It was not bubbling in the radiator and when I changed oil a couple weeks ago it was not milky and was black as it normally was. I am assuming it is the intake gasket, but just want another opinion.

    1997 Engine / Transmission Problems

I take my previous statement back. It did it again today, but definitely not as bad. It is still running rich, but seems to only be on the odd side of the engine, or at least cylinder 7 seems to always be the one misfiring. It is a brand new O2 sensor and still reads high voltage on Bank 1...

    1997 Engine / Transmission Problems

For anyone else who may have this problem in the future, problem fixed, O2 sensor replaced on driver side and runs great.

    1997 Engine / Transmission Problems

Just to clarify the P1621 code only showed after the tune was done. The hesitation/ bogging problem happened before and after the tune. It had the check engine light flashing yesterday and I finally was able to check it and it was fuel system too rich, and cylinder 7 misfire. So a fuel pump does...

    1997 Engine / Transmission Problems

It was cold in Northern Minnesota this winter (-30F) and it was doing it then as well, so ambient air temperature doesn't seem to cause it. Thanks for the suggestion though. Still thinking it is fuel pressure related but just don't understand why one day it bogs when at speed, but the next day...

    1997 Engine / Transmission Problems

I know it can't be the tune because I had the exact same bogging / hesitation problem before the tune. I was hoping the tune would help fix the problem because I thought the EGR delete was screwing it up. I did clear the codes and pull the positive on the battery and after that it has ran fine...

    1997 Engine / Transmission Problems

Nope this had happened before the tune. I forgot to mention I did an EGR delete before the tune and had the EGR tuned out after the tune. So I was thinking after the tune it should help it since EGR is tuned out, but this was not the case.

Bump for some help. Got an 8 hour drive coming up Thursday and I hope it can be fixed before then.

    1997 Engine / Transmission Problems

Baffled at 1997 Engine / Transmission Problems I have a 1997 K1500 with V8/350. It has a Black Bear Performance tune, headers, and a cold air intake. This past winter it started to stumbles/bogs down/hesitates when I accelerate from stop, when at a stoplight sometimes at idle it will almost...

    Truck Bogging

I am thinking fuel pump. After replacing the fuel filter last night it ran a little better this morning, still had some hesitation. Which leads me to believe fuel pump. I tried / checked about everything with iginition. New coil, plugs, wires, cap and rotor and still had the problem. It was a...

I just check my records and it did just have the fuel pump replaced 1.5 years ago.

    Truck Bogging

Everything is plugged in and hoses all seem fine. I just did fuel filter today and no change. Hopefully not a fuel pump. I can rev the truck up in park and it seems fine. Hold it at a higher RPM, and then hit the gas again and it is fine. But when driving it is fine until after it shifts...

    Truck Bogging

So last winter I had removed the EGR and EGR valve from my truck. It ran fine all last winter and throughout the summer. This past fall and this winter it began to bog and had a rough idle. It idles really low and after accelerating it bogs and stumbles and sometimes backfires. I have replaced...

Free or cheap "mods", with dyno results

I have taken fluid dynamics classes and I would have to agree with this. When designing engineers did the research as to why this part is in the intake. It is not to filter out large particles because that is what your air filter is for and if you are using the screen to filter large particles...

    Feeler 1997 Chevrolet Silverado K1500 Z71 ECSB

Thinking since now I have a full time job to get a newer truck with a few hundred thousand less miles on it. Truck is in Northern Minnesota, where 4 wheel drive is needed for the most part. The truck is as follows: Vortec 5.7L V8, 4L60E, 33"BFG A/T ~90% Tread Left (Great Tires), Flowmaster 10...

    The Stupid Lift Questions Thread

My friends brother is building a truck for King of the Hammers and is going from a straight axle to an IFS setup actually. A lot of guys doing rock climbing and TREC racing / Ultra 4 type events are moving to the IFS setup. But these setups don't use a torsion bar so keys are out of the question.

    The Stupid Lift Questions Thread

Why do you say false? Reindexed keys will allow the bolt for the torsion bar key to be at the same position as a stock key, but the reindexed key turns the torsion bar more when in the same position. This will allow more lift with a reindexed key since it can turn the torsion bar further than a...

    The Stupid Interior Questions Thread

So you when you open your door, your interior lights are suppose to come on. Mine do not and have not since I bought the truck 3 years ago. Anyone know why this is so?

    The Stupid Lift Questions Thread

If you get reindexed torsion keys they will allow more lift because you can turn the torsion bars more when the bolt is in the stock position. New tosion keys and reindexed keys are all a waste because you can get 2" from stock keys. Cranking further than stock will cost more money in the long...

    The Stupid Lift Questions Thread

Really there is only 2 ways to lift the front end on an IFS. First crank the keys, which puts ball joints, tie rods, CV shafts all at a bad angle, shortening the life of these components. The second method to is buy a kit which will drop the control arms such that they are at the proper angle...
