Nice! That's a lot of improvements. How was the r134a conversion? What all did you do for it?

[Solved] 700r4 - Hard 1-2 shift, 2-3 light but not soft

That's exactly how mine acted with a mis-adjusted TV cable -- hard 1-2 shift that didn't seem as violent under more throttle. I followed these directions and now all the shifts are smooth: https://static.summitracing.com/global/images/instructions/700r4%20cable%20adjustment%20instructions.pdf...

    Gas milage ?

Well, 3.73s are quite a bit different. And a 4L85E? Is that in a 2002+ van or did you swap it in? If it's a 4.8 or 5.3 LS engine in a 2002+ van, then it's going to be more fuel efficient than a 95 5.7L. If you got 18 mpg out of a 6.0L... then congratulations lol that's great.

    Gas milage ?

The 4.10 gears aren't going to be great for fuel economy. What's the speed limit on your drive? The 4L80E is more parasitic than a lighter duty transmission, as well.

    Wham-Bam POS Paint Job

Man, you are right about that molding adhesive in the video. That stuff is really hard to get off. I've been warming mine up with a heat gun and using a plastic trim tool to try to scrape it off without scraping paint off. It's ridiculous.

[Solved] Anyone know what this HVAC connector is and if it can be bypassed?

Yes, @east302, I believe it is part of the factory HVAC wiring. Looks like @PlayingWithTBI confirmed that with the diagram above. Thanks for your input guys. I decided to go ahead and bypass the connector for the red wire (and replace all the melted wires). I also found that my blower motor...

[Solved] Anyone know what this HVAC connector is and if it can be bypassed?

I bought a new project and a bunch of the HVAC wires are melted. I need to repair the melted red wire going into this connector, but I see that the same three wires go in to it and come out the other side. What is the point of it? Does it do something or was it simply put there to allow easy...

    99 k2500 suburban heater controls

I just bought a 92 C1500 and the HVAC controls didn't come on with the ignition. I found this video showing how there is a connector behind the ash tray that can start to lose connection and cause wires to melt: My wires were melted and that was my problem (one of them, anyway). I cut out the...

    Temporary in-line fuel pump

Well, to finish up the thread, I bought the truck for $1,000. The owner said the battery was dead so I hooked mine up. I tried to start it without doing anything. I didn't hear the fuel pump prime (it may have been too loud outside to hear it). It did start and run roughly for about 2 seconds...

    Temporary in-line fuel pump

Yep, that's exactly what I want to find out -- if there are other problems. It's easy to say "whoops fuel pump went out" when the engine is seized, or a rod knock is present, or a head gasket is blown and they just would rather me buy it without starting it. That reminds me to bring a fuse and...

    Temporary in-line fuel pump

Oh yeah, good thinking. I may try that to get at least some idea that it can run -- unless someone can tell me why that's a horrible idea.

You can view all that real-time data with OBD-I? I thought that was for OBD-II.

    Temporary in-line fuel pump

Hey guys, I may be going to pick up a 93 C1500 this weekend. Owner says the fuel pump is out. Does anyone have any experience with throwing a cheap in-line fuel pump on a TBI truck? Something quick so I can just verify the truck runs and drives. I was thinking even running out of a gas can for...

    Heater Core Cover

Thanks, east302. Using the part number makes it much easier. I'd visit my local salvage yard but they always say they don't have what I'm looking for.

    Heater Core Cover

Does anyone know where to get a cover for the heater core for a 88-94? The previous owner broke it, so the HVAC blower motor is just blowing air out the huge hole right at the firewall. I'm talking about this piece circled in red:
