Why not a junkyard LS swap? 1998 might be new enough where you can buy factory GM swap parts that bolt in (like motor mounts) - I'm no expert but a reprogrammed 0411 ecm, exhaust collectors and possibly aftermarket fuel pump might be all the non bolt in parts you need.- thebigcar

CDs???? I don't even BUY CDs from the bank !!!! Do yourself a favor and rip all your CDs to MP3 and put them on a thumbdrive so you can listen to more than 12 songs without having to swap discs ... (or if ur lazy just download the song from youtube which is already mp3 quality)- thebigcar

ebay alternators are generally a scam ... Mechman alternators are one of the few alternator upgrade shops I'd recommend (I run 2 of their alternators and love them) - Mechman advertises themselves as higher output alternators for race vehicles but the higher end car audio competition people use...- thebigcar

Good job .... Guessing idle speed after performance upgrades is determined by a few factors: cam timing / grind, torque converter stall speed (if auto), flywheel weight (if manual), ignition timing, etc. The factory sets idle speed relatively low for driveability and reliability of moving parts...- thebigcar

I just skimmed over the first page so I don't know if this was already done but FIRST thing I'd double check is spark plug wires going to the right cylinders.
