    Aluminum Heads to 90 C1500

I would recommend you take a long look at https://blueprintengines.com/ They build engines and dyno everything. I plan to buy one from them when the time comes but even if you plan to self build look at the parts they use and the results they achieve. This research should get you going in a...

    1990 c1500 Engine Upgrade Questions?

I have the same goal in mind but would like to keep the TBI and stock Ignition system. Just my uneducated opinion, but that cam seems pretty aggressive at 2500-6000RPM. Personally I would be looking at an "RV/Towing" Cam but you do you! I like you header choice. I also have a 1990 C1500 and...

    Idler pulley/tensioner question 1990 5.7 with AC

1990 C1500 with 5.7 v8 and AC. I need to replace the idler pulley on the tensioner which should be a no brainer but having a part ID issue. Parts lookup calls for a GM 10129560 which crosses to Dorman 419-610. OK but those are smooth pulleys with no flange. The one on the truck has side guides...

    90-1500

Just read from Page 1. Nice work. These upper control arm bolts without cams look factory. They put plugs in there at assembly so no cams needed. That means the truck has never had a real FE alignment but just "Tow and Go" There is a $29 tool to remove the plugs before cam bolt install. I highly...

Complete Exhaust System From the Head to the Bed 1990 C1500 Single cab Short bed

I do have a small MIG that is perfect for exhaust work and other light stuff and that sounds like a pretty good option. I wonder how Summits Return policy is????? If I did this I would just buy a big pile of everything I think I might need and then return what I dont use. This is the method I...

Complete Exhaust System From the Head to the Bed 1990 C1500 Single cab Short bed

My Mistake on the description. 1990 C1500 Short Bed Single Cab 350 with 700R4. I have not been able to find what I am looking for and I am normally pretty good at looking for stuff. I know I can do the headers and then just send it to exhaust shop but if a full kit exists I dont want to miss it...

Complete Exhaust System From the Head to the Bed 1990 C1500 Single cab Short bed

Seeing a whole bunch of Header threads so I thought I would post one too. I am looking for a Complete Exhaust system. Short, Mid, or Long that comes with the pipes and mufflers. Side Exit, Single or true dual. DOnt care but I want to buy it all together in one shot that will fit. I dont need...

spraying rear diff oil after new driveshaft

Did you use a Dorman 697-500 kit? If you did, as I mentioned in an earlier post. The seal for the Dorman Yoke is National 710506. I had a conversation with a Dorman Engineer a while back. The Dorman Kit 497-500 is designed to minic the superseded design GM Yoke and seal. Apparently GM had an...

spraying rear diff oil after new driveshaft

I went from 342 to 373 . I think you really have three options at this point. Take it to a mechanic. Pull the rear end and take it to a mechanic. Get a junk yard rear end. #3 will be the cheapest but 1 or 2 will get you brand new stuff and likely a warranty.

    Bad running after manual swap

I have found the easiest way to test for vacuum leaks is a torch. You dont light it, just let is flow gas. If the engine picks it up it will rev. Carb cleaner works too but it makes a mess. Generally if it worked before it is something you messed with and not some random new issue. You may well...

1990 standard cab head liner. Big job?

I just bought a new Aftermarket one with a plastic liner. It was about a 30 min install. Did not even have to remove any trim as the plastic one is flexible enough (Just visors)

spraying rear diff oil after new driveshaft

I went the doner axle route because it was $300 and I got to pick my ratio. I just added all new brakes and seals and done. You should leave R&P install to pro.

spraying rear diff oil after new driveshaft

I installed a Dorman kit on mine and screwed up the first one just like you did. The seal comes on the yoke and I ASSUMED, and we all what that means, that it was suppose to stay on there during install. It is not and is destroyed if you do it this way. Remove the yoke, get a new seal, National...
