Limp mode
Ok guys. Need more help please. Changed obd2 port. Finally scans now. Got code p1886. Changed the a, b, and 3-2 shift selinoids. Cleared codes. Start truck and drive. Goes into limp mode. Stop. 96 gmc k1500 limp mode wont scan
Ok guys. Here is what we have done. Installed new obd2 port. Finally scans. Got code p1886. Changed a,b,and 3-2 shift selinoids. Cleared codes. Start truck. Drive and goes into limp mode. Shut truck off. Restart, drive and it's fine. Shifts great. Shut truck off. Restart, goes into limp mode...- pwesley

4L60E Information Thread
It drove fine coming home. I stopped to turn in my driveway, and it wouldn't go. But it shifted just fine before that. Just all of a sudden.... don't know why. My husband told me to put it in 4L, and it went then and got me into my driveway. Now it has drive and reverse. Won't shift like its...- pwesley

We even tried a different scan tool, still nothing. Swapped out the computer with an exact match, nothing changed. Bought a new ignition switch, no change. And that thing was a demon to replace! But did no good. Shifts fine at first start up, like for the first mile or so, then goes back to limp...- pwesley

You seem to be extremely knowledgeable about the 4L60E transmission. Maybe you could give me some direction as I am stuck. Ok....we replaced the ignition switch, tested all the fuses, and have looked for several days trying to find a bad wire or anything that looks like it could be shorting out. Nothing! Truck drives and shifts fine when you first start it, but once it gets to operating temp, it goes right back into...- pwesley

I need help! I have a 96 gmc k1500 truck which I love. On my way home, truck was driving fine. I went to pull in my driveway and it was like it quit pulling. It goes fine in reverse.
