Hey, old thread back from the grave... I know there are mixed feelings on heims for a DD. I've been looking for upgraded steering components since I'm running the D'max and its looking like this is my only route. What are you guys using for the tapered portion of the tie rod? 14 Bolt Question
Still have to... Luckily my drums are fine. My parking brake cable was sticking, right now I'm without a parking brake but wanted to pose the question about why the newer axles still have the press on drums. Ya kno, curiosity killed the cat kinda thing. I do want to switch to discs in the...- paintballrepins

14 Bolt Question
OK, just wanted to make sure I'm not going crazy... Its definitely a 14 bolt FF, I know because I've had it apart twice now, never had to replace the drums and still don't thankfully. Anyone have insight on the two different styles?- paintballrepins

alrighty, so that being said, if I wanted to convert over to disc brakes I should be able to use the kits for pre 87 axles... Yea, pulling the brake drums is "easy"... Gotta order a new parking brake cable so I get to pull both when that comes in. Thanks for the info, now I know I'll be...- paintballrepins

14 Bolt Question
Alright, here goes nothing... Everywhere I read that the newer, 88 and up, 14 bolt FF axles should have drums that slip off the rear hub without pulling the axle shaft. Mine look like this. I have found several kits to convert over to disc brakes and need to know what will work for...- paintballrepins
