I've been issued a full refund from the online merchant t I bought it at. They didn't ask for the compressor back either as they couldn't issue me a replacement.
I will still do a full vacuum test on it as the clutch does engage now when I jump the low pressure switch. I guess I just didn't...
I would implore you to check the timing on the truck. On a TBI motor you HAVE to disconnect the wiring behind the glove box in order for the timing to stick. Then you can plug the wire back in. I believe it's brown. On the squarebody trucks it was on the firewall. I'm 100% certain this is the issue.
Here's the dope. Went to the local parts store and rented a puller / installer kit and bought feeler gauges and dye. The instructions in the kit were wrong about which threaded insert fit my compressor, but none the less, I was able to correctly space the compressor clutch gap. The clutch is no...
Tried that too, it can be seen disconnected in the video I've recorded. When I removed the dust cap from the stud you'd add the tool to to adjust the clutch, I noticed moisture inside. Perhaps the clutch is already shot?
Here are some photos of the clutch. I've unplugged the low side sensor and even the relay and the clutch continues to spin with the pulley. I do have a video recorded. I'll try uploading that externally and sharing.
I'm going to be unplugging the low side sensor with the truck off and firing it up to see if the clutch still activates right now. If it does still activate, I'll try pulling the AC fuse. I will have access to my good ac gauge set tomorrow (I live in an apartment and have them at my parents...
I actually do own proper gauges, and i can perform the reading agwin. I just did not have them to hand at that time.
I still don't believe the clutch gap or a bad sensor (I've replaced the low pressure sensor) would cause the area under the dash to hiss even with thr AC off. Could the...
Hello all,
I have lurked for many years, but finally broke down and made an account because I'm stumped.
I have a 2000 k2500hd. My ac system gave up the ghost last year, there was a leak somewhere and then fall / winter came so it wasn't important.
I had a shop recently run a test for me...
