this is my high school truck. i've had her since 99 when i started high school senior year. started with 70K miles, now she's at 320K. taken me to from coast to coast, lived in Phoenix with me while i was at school, took a drive to San Diego, and has taken me to NC, and of course the Texas Gulf...
carpet not so much...the shag and seats hide the holes...
but from underneath, the floorpan, eek. still thinking if i want to plug the holes with hardware or some sort of sealant. i'm thinking....5 unused holes now
that was actually my original plan, already had the angle iron handy to cut up a gusset...but the bracket metal was easy to weld and turned out very solid..i ended up leaving it as is. i did weld from both sides. i'm not a "welder"..just a guy with a small wire welder at home.
Thanks!
original was a solid bench. then i went to an aftermarket bench with fold down console (no drilling or mods required), then i went to 2 buckets and center console from a 2 door Tahoe, and now this.
Subject: 98 ex cab 6040 bench into a 92 RC
So I came on here a few weeks ago looking for details about why the 98 6040 wasn't sitting right when I test fit it into my 92 RC. learned about the cab floor changes, so then I searched for details on bracket mod needed, and found mention of "yeah you...
Exact same setup as mine it seems...looks good. i'm actually about to switch to 17x8 wheels with 33...and i'm starting to doubt it'll look as good as 33s on 15x10s...hope to get it all on early next week, then we'll see.
I've had the same thing happen to mine 2 or 3 times...think it happened once because my cam bolt came loose and camber alignment went to hell...so all the suspension pounding was focused on that weak c arm perch. I welded and a small homemade gusset. been fine for years.
