    700r4 No Lockup

Thank you for the detailed reply. I have not looked into whether the exam has power nor followed the wiring to the plug at the transmission. I think I need to start there - thank you again

    700r4 No Lockup

Hi, I’ve got an 88 Silverado with an 88 700r4. It’s not the original engine or the original trans. Over time, I’ve replaced the trans a couple different time, but I have never been able to feel the torque converter lockup. It doesn’t seem to matter what Soren I’m at, when I take my foot off...

1988 C1500 can’t find big enough ball joint HELP!!

I did take the old ball joint and pushed it up to test that theory and the ball joint would not slip thru. And it would need to be pressed back in. So I didn’t widen the hole thousandths of an inch or by mm either. And a side note, the stud is very tall, so I was not able to use the ball...

1988 C1500 can’t find big enough ball joint HELP!!

A huge thank you to all of you that took the time to offer your thoughts and suggestions, it is greatly appreciated. I’m planning on more research and ultimately, I may weld the 6239 in since it’s soo close, or possibly replace the lca with new one with lbj installed

1988 C1500 can’t find big enough ball joint HELP!!

It was the lbj that I removed that measured 59mm, the new ones were 58.2 - 58.8-ish. Amazing to me that 1/2mm makes that big a difference. I suppose possible for the hole to have gotten larger, but I would be surprised since I had to beat the old one out

1988 C1500 can’t find big enough ball joint HELP!!

I believe only 1 or 2 sizes (or part numbers) for press for for 88 C1500, but I could be wrong

1988 C1500 can’t find big enough ball joint HELP!!

The guy at O’Reilly ordered the 6239 and it was larger than the “correct” part number, but still no resistance when I pushed it up thru the hole. And correct, I have not seen that measurement on parts websites on on a store’s system either.

1988 C1500 can’t find big enough ball joint HELP!!

Not 100% sure, but 1), the previous kit that I installed in 2014 accepted the new press fit ball joint, and 2), I beat the bad ball joint out and that measured very close to 59mm. I would be surprised if the hole opened up to not accept a new one.

1988 C1500 can’t find big enough ball joint HELP!!

Hi to all, member for some time, never posted. This may have been discussed previously so please forgive me if is a second go around. I went to replace my LBJ on the passenger’s side, pressed the old out, went to rock auto and ordered K6445. It came and as I pushed it up into the LCA, it slid...
