MM5: MERCHANDISED TRANS, MAN 5 SPD PROVISIONS

Don't mean to sound stupid, just curious what the laymans term for it is, and whether its a decent one worth reusing, thanks in advance.

I had a 5 speed trans on my 92 I had in fact it had granny gear but I was having all sorts of trouble with the truck I traded it in oh the trans was fine it was other stuff.

Aren't getrag's the stronger transmission. I know they put getrag 282's in fiero's back in the day when they came with the v6's

no, they are the weaker one, high failure rate in the early 90's trucks

88-94 is usually the getrag hm290 or the muncie 5lm60, new process merged with muncie to create new venture
93 is when the nv 3500 was created by new venture
