Thought I would make a closed thread on my truck to show it off as well as help me keep track. You can ask me questions on my thread in Member Trucks right here!

When I got my learner's licence, my grandpa gifted me his 1988 GMC that I've been drooling over since I was a kid. They kept most of its early (until 1993) shop repair papers. They bought it brand new on Dec 12, 1987 as a 1988 GMC K2500 RCLB 5.7L 350 V8 with the 5 speed standard. The transmission was replaced under warranty at only 4,600kms (~2800 miles). In Feb of 1991 it was converted to propane; a popular thing to do in BC at the time.

When I first got it (337,000kms ~209,000 miles)

I proceeded to get right into it, painting and adding little odds and ends to make it look nice. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to repaint a lot.

The propane is extremely limiting for engine/exhaust mods because I dont know what I can touch without causing problems or blowing up, or if its even that much different from gas.

Plans:

Maintenance and Repair:
Front driveshaft clanking in 4whdr
Transmission, transfer case and differential fluid
Clutch
Body mounts
Parking brake (not sure how to fix this, if you put it on it just sticks so my grandpa adjusted the cable so if you do accidentally apply them they wont engage and you wont have to smoke the brakes all they way back home. I was told I needed a whole new rear axle? Gives me an excuse to snatch a G80)
Cosmetics
Decipher mystery wires
Thorough cleaning of engine bay, underbody, everything!
Spark plugs maybe? Distributor rotor and wires. I replaced the distributor last April when I hit a puddle during lunch break at school and a corroded nub broke so I only quickly replaced the distributor.

New Parts:
Long overhead console
Diesel bumper
Auxiliary battery tray
Step/Nerf bars
Headache rack w/ rails
Bulkhead and bed rail caps
Trans4mer push bumper

Additions:
Tachometer and Trans Temp gauge, custom "Moonie-Matched"
4" lift
285/75r16 Dick Cepek Radial FC II or Duck Commander Mud Terrains or Falken Wildpeak A/Ts
Line-X/Rhino Lined box
Dual Flowmaster 40s (would also like electronic cut-outs but Im not sure what the propane needs for back-pressure)
Fog lamps
More lights in general
Colour-match grille
Dual battery & possibly dual alternator setup
Weathertech floor liners
Window tint
"Big 3" upgrade with battery post terminals to replace the current small side terminal setup

Things that have been done since joining here:

Mandatory 4-HI mod and then added a bonus

A few things done this weekend. Finished amp wiring just need posts to connect power to. Wired up CB and tuned the antennas, 1.5:1 on Channel 1 and 40, everything lower everywhere between.

Wire loomed all the bare wires kicking about the engine bay and attempted to fix the licence plate holder from when a deer hit me. Back to school today so the truck wont see me until the 31st. Lots of stuff planned for that weekend, body mounts, extra odds and ends and yes, colour matching the grille. Getting it all set up for camping the weekend after!
