Hey y’all, working on a transmission for a little build I’m doing. Pulled this TH350 out a truck bed trailer where it had sat for 30 years, still spins good and all the internals are great! While doing TLC I’m also doing what I call the “Racecar” modifications. Pulled the Governor off to do the tig welding portion on the weights and noticed the housing is either cracked or has a rough casting! I’ve personally not ever seen this in one on this scale. Whatcha y’all think? This thing junk?

Looks pretty standard from what I've seen.
It's a casting "defect" that I think is pretty common. I've seen discussion about it before and was trying to dig up the info but all I could find was very specific talk about flaws that can happen in industrial casting processes.

Edit: yo GreaseDog, long time no see :)
