That sounds promising, glad you found a solution. Yeah, it sounds like you have a corroded/broken ground somewhere.
The one at the bottom near the harmonic balancer would be a good suspect since its subject to whatever mud and grime gets thrown up. There’s also the one by the thermostat and one next to the battery on the fender wall.
