Hello I recently fixed my ac system and noticed that this was long over due for a new one but I can’t quite figure out what this part is called but I believe it’s from the cooling system any help would be appreciated

NO!!! It’s a land mine with a proximity fuse. Be careful!

It's a fan clutch. If this is what you took off, this is the style you need to put back on. The Vortec engine uses the big nut to attach the assembly to the water pump, and the 4 bolts attach the fan to the clutch.
There's a heavy duty version that most of the trucks use,if you have one, you need to use that type. They work better than the other type,and it's what the vehicle is designed to use.

How did you decide that it is long over due? does it not operate correctly? or is it just a bit dirty?

Fan clutches are a thermal device they work or they don't that's it. There is no in between with them. If your's functioned then don't waste your $ on replacing it.
