Hey guys, I have a question about 2 parts in the engine bay that are cut or blocked off. There is some kind of sensor under the air intake that you can see with the red vacuum plug. The other is right behind the driver headlight with a cut hose.

Could you guys let me know what these parts are and how I should reconnect them. Thank you so much.

Now that I looked at the pictures, the first part on the intake manifold is cracked. I imagine that would be causing a vacuum leak.

I see a crack at the mounting flange. I bet the item is functionally fine; although it's hard to know without testing.

Kinda wondering if the two items are related--would the cut hose have gone to the solenoid on the intake?

Any way you look at it, someone screwed the pooch instead of fixing a problem. (or two.)

Is there a part number for the line that connects the two?

Would this be causing issues being unhooked?

One part that's missing is plastic hardline which leads from the solenoid on the RH engine bay. The OE line was formed with bends to conform to the routing, and rubber(?) fittings on either end which mated with the solenoid and... whatever was on the other end (the canister?)

Plain old rubber hose would probably suffice.

Would this be causing issues being unhooked?

I would think it would throw a code, related to fuel tank pressure or some such.

FYI, might be other parts missing there IMHO. Best bet is to compare to a picture of a similar vehicle with all the stuff in place. My Suburban does have all the stuff in place, I just can't get you a picture of it now.

(edit) I found some pictures, will post.

Here are some overview pictures of the engine bay, relevant to your question, from my 1998 L31 Suburban. Sorry their resolution isn't great, they were taken in Nov 2001 w/a 1M pixel camera (remember those days?).

Every picture shows something relevant, just study each long enough.

The part number was 12561901 but is discontinued. Mine has been spliced with fuel hose for probably 15 years now - seems to be fine. If you’re in a junkyard looking, the 305 used the same hose as the 350.

Thank you guys. That helped so much.

Any idea how to get those factory clips off? I tried with no luck.

Also why is there what looks like a Schrader valve with the green cap on this line?
