You definitly want the est hooked up, the computer control's the advance of the distributor, without it you would be down on power a lot.

oh another quick question will the computer compensate for my cam then? or should i time it to it runs good with out the est plugged in?

i would advance the timing a little bit with the EST unplugged (Like 3* or 4*) then plug it back in.

word, cause these distrbutors have no mechanical advance, you would be stuck at that timing throughout RPM band.

alright so i timed it at 0 today with the est unplugged and it all seems to be running fine. but you think i should advance it a degree or two? cause i feel it could be a little better

You can try advancing it a little but if you get spark knock/preignition set it back to zero.
