I didn't check the timing cover I was putting on a 99 vortec 5.7 in a caddy, looked and it had holes. Put the harmonic balancer, pulley, water pump, oil pan, and looked and the Pioneer cover didn't have a threaded brass insert, just a bare plastic hole. What should I do, I hate to take it all apart and ruin all those gaskets if I can remove the old insert and put it in there? I know RockAuto will warranty the part and nothing else, so I hope this is something I can fix.

I was able to split the old cover and get the insert out. I is split at the end so when the bolt is tightened, it will expand and stay in the insert. This made it easy to put in the new one and not have to remove stuff and change it. I hated to leave this thread open like so many people do that never tells how they fixed the problem.
