Taillight loose red wire

My brake lights aren't working fuse is good and bulbs are good. I took the left taillight off and there is a red wire that goes from the harness loom and is just hanging there. There's only the red wire on the drivers taillight not one in the passenger taillight. Any ideas on what its for and could it possibly be causing my brake light problem?

Nevermind, found a ground wire that was hanging back by the bell housing bolts. Grounded it and it fixed my brake light problem as well as my wipers not working. Have no clue how that one ground fixed my problems but oh well, i guess
