So I’m doing a complete front end replacement on my 98 Suburban with 2wd, decided to go with a quick ratio gearbox for a tighter feel on the road. I want to replace the steering shaft but it look like the only one offered is the Dorman brand and I was checking out the Borgensen brand and its nothing being made. And other suggestions???

Why do you want to change the whole shaft ? The problem is the rag joint most likely. I could not believe the difference in my truck when I changed my rag joint.

I looked into doing the XJ shaft swap in my 97, and what I found was that the bottom of the U joint would fit the steering box, but the top part of the shaft would not fit, so I thought about just cutting out the U joint and welding it onto the OE Chevy shaft, but I just changed the rag joint, and its good now.
