Short Box Question?

I got a 96 step side i know the box sides can be unbolted. Can or has anyone ever bought a fleet side replacement panel and bolted/welded it on to make a 6ft fleet side from a existing step side?
I would like a 6ft fleet side on my truck but finding one around me not rotted is near impossible.

Gonna be pulling a very clean 6 ft. fleet box off my truck in a few months but I am a bit of a ride from you. This pic was taken before I did the color change. The dent behind the rear wheel was the only dent in the truck factory paint.
