Well I did a couple things. Got a wild hair to sell my killer 2013 GMC crew cab and get a ‘07-2010 regular cab 2wd to slam and use for a daily. Crew cab sold super fast, and as luck would have it the 3 trucks I really wanted sold dang it! I’m in St. Louis so everything here is a rusty turd for the most part.

So for Mothers Day I went to Arkansas and picked up the absolute dustiest, most country-a** dirt road bean and cotton field V8 automatic sub - $5,000 ‘98 Z71 regular cab short bed and drove the ole girl 4 hours back home.

I’m baffled at how well it drives the interstate at 75mph on the Farmers Co-op special 20” tires lol. After multiple stops to flush what can only be described as creek water out of the cooling system and put a new radiator cap on her I got her home after 4 1/2 hours lol.

Every remote mirror, window button, etc works and after the first car wash stop (maybe ever) she’s gonna be ok. AND it has a killer Bluetooth sub behind seat I’ll be share with the group soon.

Say hi to Pearl. Be nice, poor girl never got to have a bath and wear a dress to town.

For less than 5k!!!!
That's a friggin steal if it is as good as the pics show
It’s ok for a 98 overall, EVERY piece of interior trim is intact, dash is cracked but (treasure yard exactly .6 miles away full of em) has a very nice steel cowl hood that fits like OE but it needs a proper base/clear refresh easy under $100 in materials Saturday job. My buddy is the regional McGuires polish and SATA spray gun manufacturers rep so I already have a supply of paint correction items to bring the OE paint back to 100% and now a chance to demo a SATA gun on the hood.

She’s a dirty girl all except interior just dusty. Underneath and under the hood very few humans have ever seen this level of dirty. My buddy that went with said he thought it had been under water cuz how could one truck have so much dirt/dust/mud everywhere lol. A life of Mississippi River Delta dirt farm roads, in later years driving to the gambling house over the levee every day lol.

Dear diary,

It’s been 6 days and still no sight of land. Yet the Captain insists we continue cleaning his precious Pearl…just in case.

Trip 4 Thursday night to car wash but this time I took a long angled pry bar and scraped the 3-4 inch thick delta gumbo clay out of the wheel wells and rocker panels and bumpers. Unreal how much came out and exposed very nice sheet metal and paint it had been hiding.

Theis morning I swept out the bed and pulled the rubber mat out. Used a paint stick to scrape loose the mud that made a 6 inch tall and 6 inch wide pile all the way across the bed that I washed out at car wash. Other than the paint that the toolboxes rubbed off fender wells and half dozen holes for mounting the bed is very nice. All the seam sealer is in tact, paint only rubbed through in a couple spots I’m tempted to clean up and spray the bad spots when I shoot the hood.
