REMOTE OIL FILTER INSTALL 5.7

Hey all. Just got done with this today. Real simple install.
Summit PN# SUM-G4985-1

The kit comes with several adapters for different apps.

This is what I needed for mine.

I removed my oil filter adapter for easy install. Its not required but mucho easier.
Remove the 2 13mm bolts and pull adapter/filter.

Cleanup adapter location on block.

Find the adapter hex-nut that fits your stock adapter nipple and attach to the spin-on adapter with the supplied snap ring.
Find the correct size o-ring in the kit and put it on the spin on adapter. (the part on the left)

Apply Teflon tape to the hose barbs and screw on with a 7/8" wrench.

Spin on adapter.

Re-install adapter to block with new o-ring.

Find location for remote oil filter. (firewall,fender,wheelwell,ect). Drill 3- 3/16" holes using new filter mount as a guide.Attach filter mount with supplied screws.Measure and cut hoses to the length you need. In hose from bottom to out hose at top. Out hose from bottom to in hose at top.

Attach new filter nipple with a piece of rubber hose and channel locks.

Attach new filter. The filters that fit the new adapter may be a different size than your stock one. Be sure to check that you have the correct filter before u start.
Filter sizes;
AC-PF2
FRAM-PH8A
PUROLATOR-PER1A

Start and run motor. Check for leaks. Top off oil.
Finito!

damn, next oil change I know what I'm doing- it was a bear-cat to get up in there last time.

If your lifting yours you should go to a regular adapter an filter. No lines to leak that way. You'll have plenty of room to get to it after the lift. It's a little tight before but still easier than that sideways junk that's on there. You loose your oil cooler though, but it's no biggie, even less lines to worry with then. :D
