The radiator in my truck has kicked the bucket. When buying a replacement should I just go with oem or is there a better option that will benefit the truck?

Mine originally had the brass style radiator. When I got a new one, it was a direct replacement, but was plastic tanks with an aluminum core. The truck ran about 10 degrees cooler after the swap.

The '91 454SS rad will bolt in place, and has 2 1" core vs the stock single core. Usually cheaper too. Parts number for Murray/Vista Pro/Four Seasons is 432285. Pretty cheap on rockauto and the like.

Nice! I had a buddy check out my radiator today. He said my drain plug was a half turn loose. Atm I am just keeping an eye on it. It's only leaked twice in two weeks and I have lost very little coolant.

I think I may be having the same problem. Its either the radiator or the drain plug :(

if you can fit the larger 42" (or something...) radiator, do that!
its actually meant for a 454 as apposed to the 30-something" radiator
paired with a good fan and clutch, my truck NEVER runs hot

The 2500 big block radiator is 19" tall as opposed to 17" for the half ton radiator. It's also two core instead of one. It's still 34" wide though. To use it, you have to get the 2500 mounts and shroud. The 454SS unit is still 34"x17", just two core, so it drops in with no mods.

I'll have to go measure my rad when it stops snowing. I have a 2500 but it's of the 6 lug variety.
