Radar Detectors

I need advice as to which radar detectors are the best. Which to avoid, etc, etc... I used a friend's cobra once and all it ever did was chirp at every house alarm I drove by, nothing else.

My uncle is a cop and he had given me one that was pretty good I dont remember the name though The one I use now is an older one and is a big box that I just leave on my dash and it is AMAZING. It is an Escort!

how legal are these? I've heard they are not allowed in some places

I'd like to run a CB a scanner and a radar detector, just not sure on the legality of the last one

Like I said my uncle is a cop and he was the one that gave me both haha I have never had any problems with them but I have also never been pulled over since I got them (Knock on wood). He gave me the first one because he had to get me out of like six tickets in about four months when I was a sophomore in high school. However I do know that New Mexico is one of the most lenient states on just about every issue!

They are legal in iowa but if u do get pulled over with one on your dash i would not be expecting to walk away with a warning

I have the valentine V1...it looks old school, but i think its the best one because it has a front and rear scanner and arrows to tell you where the cop is. I also have the new passport escort wireless, i like it because you don't need cords but it doesn't always go off as quick as the v1. Also with the v1, you can mail your unit back when a newer version comes out and they will upgrade it for way cheaper then buying a new unit.

The 9 band cobras from walmart are useless. I have a cheap 22 band from ebay, it's okay.

You gotta get an escort, valentine, magnum. They are expensive, but they make a $50 cobra from walmart look like a child's beeper toy.
