I bought an AC can tap that fits on the r134a can, but the output male fitting (1/2") does not fit into the female side of the yellow manifold line (7/16"). I tried to look for an adapter or another can tap that would fit. Anyone run into this?

Here are the specific parts I got:

Going to pep boys tomorrow and just comparing their gauge lines. Here are some photos I took to help clarify http://imgur.com/a/XyVum

That's the standard can tap, I suspect your hose is not right. Maybe eBay sent you a hose with the wrong end on it.

In CA. Not sure if that makes a difference. Wouldnt be surprised if we had a different fitting or rule

I had to buy that blue adapter(from Carquest)to fit onto the cans they sold me so I could use the brass valve.I also got the gauge set from HF,it all went together and worked the first time I used it.Also I got a good deal on a 30lb. tank of 134a and have used it several times.

Keep in mind I too live in CA. Oh,did they get you for a core charge on the can? Ridiculous.

Jollyjerry I am having the exact same problem with an Ebay set of manifold gauges and the DV-134 can tap. My yellow hose is an SAE J2196 however. I thought it was a problem with the can tap that I bought at Advance Auto but I tested it with their manifold hoses and it fit fine. I now believe it is a problem with the hose sent from Ebay. I have sent a note to the seller. Do you have a solution yet? If Saatr's recommendation of the adaptor is correct, it would seem we were sent the wrong hoses as the adaptor is to adapt an R12 hose to and can of R134a refrigerant. What I bought was supposed to be for R134a and was similar to yours.

Ya, I bought a $11 adapter from NAPA. I bought it in store so I can check it out in person. https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NTE783199

The key part is to get a "1/2" ACME Female x 1/4" Male Flare". They sell these for cheaper on eBay, but I didn't want to deal with the hassle of shipping and returns so I bought one in store. My hose is also SAE J2196 as you can see in the 2nd photo. The shape of the male flare is distinct enough to see in photos:
