The cable that fell down is what pulls the shift indicator. It attaches to a plastic drum on the steering column and that drum snaps into the shifter hub on the column. One of the tabs broke on mine cause the drum to detach from the shift hub. My interim solution was to duct tape the drum to the shift hub, but the shift indicator is off by one position to the left:

You can get a digital shift indicator by installing a sensor on the transmission. In addition, my boost, egt, transmission temp and fuel pressure gauges can all be displayed on the one gauge cluster, thus eliminating them. This thing does so much more and my current cluster is basically shot with speedo and tach falling to zero when I go over big bumps or potholes.
