I have a 99 Suburban K2500 with the 7.4l (454) that was replaced by the previous owner. I don't have any details on where this replacement block came from, but I do know that it's not the original engine.
My question is about my oil filter housing. I currently have a bad leak coming from the behind (above) the oil filter. Doing some research, it appears that this is a common issue and can be fixed by replacing the oil filter housing gasket. However, watching this video, it doesn't appear that I have the same 90 degree housing adapter as many others have. My oil filter hangs straight down and doesn't have the 90 degree adapter at all. The video (and several threads I found on here) talk about needing to remove some 5/16" square bolts to remove the adapter - which I don't appear to have.
I'm wondering if anybody can confirm if that is correct and, if so, is there an oil filter housing gasket that I should be replacing? I plan on replacing the current oil filter (+ o-ring) this weekend to try to stop this leak. My driveway is a mess!
Here is my filter (with lots of leaking oil coming from above immediately upon startup):
