Hey guys. I've got a 1998 K1500 with the 5-speed. It had a bad pilot bushing (yes bushing not bearing) and I just got it back from the tranny shop here in Nashville. When I got it back, I noticed that there was oil on the pan and bellhousing. It had been that way before, but I thought it might be a bad rear main seal, which the tranny guys should have fixed while they were in there. Turns out they did check it, and it is actually a leaking oil pan gasket. A regular mechanic shop quoted me $560 to change the oil pan gasket, so I thought I might be able to do it myself, but apparently it involves dropping the front differential. Any words of advice?
