Another idea is to sell a "mold" of the rods for people that want to make them themselves and to have a good starting point.
Imagine if you had a wax/ceramic/plastic copy in front of you to reproduce in metal rod form.

If you could get a 3d rendering of the latch rods made you could have a bend gauge 3d printed to check them with. It would probably be the easier and cheaper than having one machined out if you were going to go that route.

So for a follow up for today. I tried tapping the rod and that did not go smoothly as hoped[emoji17]. So I’m going to make a mold so I can accurately place a small bolt on the end and tack weld it in place.

Honestly, a small washer would be fine. By the time you mig or tug it, the thickness will be there.
