HELP!! can't lock doors

There should be small plastic caps on the ends of some of the rods to keep them locked into their holes. I can't recall which ones have them. I'm just thinking if some of these are broken or missing the rod might bind. You can get sort of a variety pack at your local parts store for just a few bucks. I found them on a peg next to the door panel clips.

Mine just have the metal clips that the rods pop into, I'm about to order the 4 rods from LMC and try that

Turned out the rod in the driver door from the outer handle to the latch came from a passenger door so I put it in a vise and reversed all the bends and on the passenger side the rod from the lock pawl to the latch was missing so now both doors lock and unlock I just have to tinker with the rod that goes from the inner lock to the latch because the bends in it are a little out of wack
