Long term project to get a 2500/3500 gasser (propane 40% cheaper than gas here, so the costs work out differently to yours). Coz' of our towing laws about RV trailers, I need a GVWR of 3501kg+ for a 27' or longer airstream.......

Tested a lovely 454 C2500 'burb last w/e - sadly plated at 3402kg. Aagh!

2 gas mileage questions:
- did the change to vortec injection make a big difference to gas mileage?
- can I reckon in the same gas mileage from a 454 3500 non-dually as from a 2500?

Loving the forum!

The Vortec engines do get better mileage and make a little more power than the TBI, As long as the 454 is Vortec, it will perform better than the TBI equivalent. Gas mileage of the engine should be the same with a 2500 or 3500 so long as both have the same motor, however the weight of the truck and the transmission will make a little difference.
