Fuel gauge issue

Newbie here, just purchased a 98 Ext Cab Short Bed stepside, great condition. The fuel gauge needle vibrates rapidly back and forth when the truck is running. Position (reading) seems right, but it constantly vibrates slightly above and below its position. Any help with the cause and fix would be appreciated.

It's a common problem with the fuel sender. When your fuel pump goes out, replace the entire assembly with a Delphi/Delco unit. Stay away from Ebay setups.
