I have a low mileage front diff that is supposedly its from a 99 Yukon with 3.73. Is there a way to tell what gearing it is without tearing it apart? There are no clear markings that I can find.

turn the DS yoke and count the turns of the axle flange, that can get you close, but best bet is tearings into it to count teeth.

There should be a code stamped in the housing, I would think, like gu6, but not sure on front axles, then there is always the chance somebody could have swapped gears.
