I'm going off a very limited knowledge of diffs here. Can someone who knows more than I please double check these items for me please for compatibility with my 97 L31 K1500

front diff:

rear diff:

Also, can someone double check my thinking on gearing for this truck? I dont hardly ever see an actual highway, but I live in the country. The road i live on has a roughly 50mph speed limit. I do 50-60 just to get milk. Stop and go is not something I hardly ever see. I do haul stuff, and I am building this for off road use. I only plan on going as big as 35's or maybe 36" tires. I was thinking 4.88s but with my driving being more highwayish (yes I made that up) I'm, thinking the 4.56 may just be better suited for my mpg needs.

Actually while I was sitting here typing, I thought for the extra 50-100 bucks, why not Elocker both front and back? Sooooooo..... is this the right one for the back? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ETN-19659-010/

Thank you in advance for any and all help I get on this issue. As you may be able to tell from my series of posts, I have an idea of where I am going and what I am building, but I have to get the specifics nailed down a bit.

Your front diff is an 8.25. I don't think there's a locker for it, but your ring and pinion is right. The rear looks right as long as you have a 10 bolt.

I'd go 4.56. That should be plenty of gear for what you want. I'm running 33s on my 3.23 gears..want some 4.10s cause I tow.
4.56 would give you plenty of grunt.

x2 IMO

You say your building it for more offroad use, how much wheel time will your rig see? Thats where the lower gear ratio will really help but theres really not much between .56 and .88 to make a difference, only a couple hundred RPM's @ 70MPH.

as much time as possible. This is my daily driver, but my last DD trail rig spent 2 or 3 days a week off road down in VA
