COMPUTER SWAP

one of my friends has a 98 1/2 ton and he bought a performance computer and he's sellin the pickup so i was going to buy the computer from him and put it in my 96 but there was an extra cord on my pickup and when we plugged it in and started it, it idled rough so we didnt dare leave it in does anyone know what the extra cord is for?

It goes about 18 inches back into the harness loops around and comes back. It is just one wire. The 96 and 98 have a few pins that are different between them if I remember correctly.

no it was just the one, the 98 just had two main plugs which were the same as my 96 but my 96 had an extra smaller plug

The older PCM's had the extra plug that connected to the PCM. I beleave it plugged in between the white and black plugs. I can not remember what it is for though.
