Clear coat or not on OEM wheels

I stripped the clear off my aluminum wheels so I could clean them up and paint the accents... I'm for sure going to clear the accents but will an enamel clear coat stick to the raw aluminum?

Look for a powder coating place in your area. They can powder them clear....

It can work but the big question is durability. And +1 on having them powder coated clear instead.
