I know the cheaper ones work, but I like the look of these. I would plan to solder and then use this on the end.

Well as a temp fix, I picked up some battery side post extentions from AutoZone and cut off all of the rubber from the stock cable rings. Gained 1/2 to 1 volts at times!!

As for cable, will the poly on this cable work in the engine bay?

I've used stuff by KnuKoncepts before, not those specifically, their stuff seems to be pretty good quality, I haven't had any issues with it.

I don't see any reason that cable wouldn't work, looks fine to me, I don't know the melting point of that poly, but keep it off the headers and stuff like you would with any wiring and you shouldn't have problems.
