You took a lot of flack (to a degree, deserved) because of a failed attempt at a notch. You learned from it, hopefully, and it does sound like you took steps to fix it correctly. Details matter and without those, all the good people here can do is guess at what was done. There's a lot of really bad examples of stuff like this on the road and the people driving it think it's fine, when it's actually a rolling death trap. Not saying yours is - but without details, like I said, we can only guess. Good to hear it sounds like you got it sorted out without having to junk the frame.
