All this talk of ashtrays. ,Eh, ok 50% me on this string. Just went out to have a ( Death Stick), The odd one. The lighter, and night lite in the ashtray are still operational (OEM, 26yrs and counting). The tray comes out to clean, shaped metal band for the lock in.

I was gonna leave work early today to go to the salvage yard, but that didn’t happen. They quit letting you pull parts at 4, and that’s what time I normally get off. It’ll be end of next week before I can make it.

Yeah the pick a part here is only open like 9 to 4, and this time of year, that's the hottest part of the day. Good way to get a heat ****** and lose half my tools..... I need to go out there and see what they have now( haven't been since February!) but it's going to depend on how my weekends go. Got to get some stuff done to the Burb in the next couple weeks.

Finally got two springs from junkyard & installed them. Ashtray stays shut now.

Did you have any problems removing the ashtray from the dash? I removed the 4 screws and it seems to be hung up in the dash by wire to the light. Do you unclip the light holder before you remove it?

Yes, you have to remove the wire connector from the lighter housing. I just can’t remember how it’s connected.
